Get whisker to whisker Snorkelling & Freediving with the Seals at Montague / Barunguba Island!

Get ready for one of the funnest experiences you can do on the South Coast! The seals are not shy at all and will often jump in the water in large numbers to come investigate and play with you. This is a super fun and interactive experience.

Underwater Safaris offers adventures specialising in smaller, more personalised groups. With the knowledge to ensure you experience the best the area has to offer. We are proud as punch that we are the only operator in Narooma that don’t offer fishing tours!

Our 3 hour round trip includes an awesome boat ride to Montague Island (Barunguba). On your journey look out for flying fish, dolphins, migratory birds & whales (September-November).

Our Padi Instructors & Dive Masters will take excellent care of you! 

INCLUDES WETSUIT, MASK/SNORKEL AND FINS. 

Before snorkelling your guide will run though your equipment and if you have never snorkelled before; give you additional easy to follow instructions. We have noodles for extra flotation if required & weight belts for freedivers.

Once we arrive at the island we will roll back into one of the shallow and sheltered bays and get whisker to whisker with the playful seals! Enjoy being in the water as long as possible or jumping in and out between snacks and refreshments.

In order to experience the best diving of the day, our knowledgeable skippers and crew examine wind speed, direction, tides and swell and will decide the best sites to visit. 

In different seasons, we experience a multitude of different events. 

September – November is during the great southern whale migration! On their epic journey back to Antartica humpback whales travel past our coastline in excellent numbers. It is a quite regular to have whales singing or breaching on the trip aswell as pods of dolphins along side the boat. 

December – May is when it's best to meet the seasons new adorable seal pups! AMAZING!

Itinerary

• Meet at Apex Park Boat Ramp Narooma 
• Wetsuit fitting if you need one, sign indemnities and load the boat
• Briefing of activities including boat safety and guidance for best interactions with the seals
• Boat trip 10-15min
• Snorkel/Freedive
• Return to Narooma

What to Bring

• Towel

• Own snorkelling gear if preferred

Please be mindful that all of our tours are dependent on the ocean conditions and minimum numbers to go ahead.

Sometimes tours get moved to earlier time slots.  If this is a possibility we will give you as much notice as possible.

Once you have completed your booking with us you will receive a confirmation email with the tour time. You will only hear from us if we have to make any changes due to the weather.  Check you have entered your mobile number and email correctly.

Sea sickness can be experienced even in slight seas and will ruin your awesome day.  We highly recommend heading to the chemist to get some over the counter tablets prior to your trip with us.
