Prior to beginning the course you must:
- Open Water Certification by a recognised Dive Institute (18 years or over for Junior Open Water)
- Pass the Diver Medical Questionnaire
- Be able to swim 200 metres

The PADI Open Water Diver course includes 3 main phases:
- Knowledge Development (online e-learning) to understand basic principals of scuba diving
- Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills (can be completed within 1-2 confined water dive sessions)
- 4 x Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore

In order to gain your PADI Open Water certification, you will need to obtain a Dive Medical Certification from a Dive Doctor.

Note; most dive medical examinations will cost less than AU$90.00 however your dive doctor may charge more for a more thorough examination, or you may be required to have a chest X-ray.) We strongly recommend you obtain a medical certification before booking your Open Water course.
